Octopus Shape Shifters Business Tariff

The Shape Shifters tariff by Octopus Energy is a smart tariff aimed solely at small businesses.

It is a time-of-use tariff with cheaper off peak period that reward you avoiding peak periods.

By avoiding the 4pm to 7pm peak you’re getting 21hrs of cheaper electricity.

Shape Shifters is split into 3 periods throughout the day

  • Night Rate – midnight to 7am is the cheapest rate
  • Day Rate – 7am to 4pm and 7pm to midnight is cheaper than standard rate
  • Peak Rate – 4pm to 7pm is higher than standard rate, so try and avoid

Bottom line – if you can avoid the 4pm to 7pm peak you’ll be paying reduced prices.

The graphic from Octopus shows how the rates change throughout the day.

Obviously, to take advantage of this time-of-use tariff you will need a smart meter at your business.
